An umpire, who is not an officer of DHUA, who has made the greatest contribution to umpiring in Devon in the past season (Voted for by the DHUA Selection and Coaching Committee).
An umpire, new to the DHUA Neutral Pool in the previous season, who has shown the most improvement in their umpiring and commitment to Devon umpiring during that season (Voted for by the DHUA Selection and Coaching Committee).

The Young Umpire, new to Devon in the previous season, who has shown most promise and commitment to Devon umpiring during that season (Chosen by the Devon Young Umpire Action Group out of those umpires who are under 21). This award is sponsored on behalf of the late Julia Gill, who was DHUA Chief Coach, and carries with it a £75 cheque for the winner.
The team, who has been umpired 5 times or more by DHUA, who has scored the highest hospitality average in the past season (Chosen from the Match Feedback reports of DHUA appointed umpires).

The festival was set up in 2001. Over 50 teams from schools from Plymouth and surrounding villages compete in a 2 day event. Young umpires from 12 to 16 umpire all the games and DHUA have sponsored the Young Umpire Award since 2007.
In June 2011, the Plymouth Primary School Mixed Hockey Festival was granted the Inspire Mark - the badge of the London 2012 Inspire Programme. The London 2012 Inspire programme recognises innovative and exceptional projects that are directly inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
In 2013 this award was renamed in memory of Julia Gill (DHUA Chief Coach) who worked tirelessly with young umpires in Devon.
